Horror Roundtable with the Horror Writers Association

On Sunday, March 13, at 3 pm EST there will be a roundtable of horror writers discussing writing horror and women in horror, specifically.

Join us for this informal talk and bring your questions and comments.

You can watch this on Twitch on one or all channels, depending on how many windows you want open!

I'll be putting the event on my own Twitch channel: http://twitch.tv/sephera666

It will also be in the HWA Ontario Twitch channel: http://twitch.tv/hwaontario

If you're a member of HWA Ontario, you can likely watch it in the Discord as well!

This is our first Twitch event so we're hoping to see you all there!

Have a great week!

It's Alive! Flesh Failure Lives!

Flesh Failure is another study in my exploration of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein: The Modern Prometheus.

Flesh Failure is set in 1888 London, the year of the Ripper, along with many other interesting historical pinnings that shape events in this story.

Our heroine claws her way through a maze of lies, attempting to discover who she really is.

She doesn't have much time, as someone such as herself isn't built for this world.

Flesh Failure was originally published by Samhain Horror Publishing as an eBook and was packaged with Captured Souls as a duo in a print version called Experiments in Terror.

Both Flesh Failure and Captured Souls are currently published by Scarlett Publishing. And both riff on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Flesh Failure is available right now in eBook on Amazon. It will be out in print soon. It will likely be available with other distributors in a week or two.

Check Out These Online Courses for Writing, Tarot Card Reading, and Self-Publishing!

Do you want to learn some new skills during this Pandemic?

Maybe you're one of the lucky ones who isn't juggling jobs and kids and are looking for something to do to amuse yourself while we're still in various degrees of isolation. Or maybe you already do tons of stuff but want to explore something new! Maybe you want to brush up on your Creative Writing skills. Or freak out your friends with fortune-telling!

At any rate, you know I'm a writer, a teacher, an editor, a tarot card reader, and an actor, which means I love to entertain.

I thought I'd put my various offerings on this blog page in case you're not aware of some of them.

George Brown College, Toronto

I begin my new career at George Brown College next week! You can sign up for these courses at any time, even after they've started as these are online courses! George Brown College is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, however, the courses are taught online so you can live anywhere!

Novel Writing Begins June 4, 2020. This 12-week course will help you write an original novel! In fact, if you don't have to work long hours and are motivated, you might be able to write your novel in 12-weeks as well!

Self-Publishing Begins June 1, 2020  Have you spent your pandemic time writing journals, stories, and books? Maybe now is the time to think about sharing your craft with the world in a self-published book! This 6-week course will teach you all the things you need to know to self-publish your book!

Udemy Online

Now, for more courses that I teach, let's check out Udemy!

Udemy is an online school where I've successfully taught for three years!

Every student who takes my course is a real student. I didn't stuff my courses with non-paying students as many others do. Each student is real and all the reviews are real and quite varied as you can see for yourself. What one person loves, another person loathes!

Udemy often has sales so save the links and they will take you right to a sale when there's a sale. If you use my links, I earn more than $1 a class!

Learn How to Be a Psychic Entertainer in One Day

Learn how to read tarot cards, read a palm, and freak out your isolation family! This course is a shortcut for fun and entertainment. You can use a simple deck of cards or even make your own!

Learn to Write Erotica

If you like to read erotica, you might want to try your hand at writing it. The best writers write what they love!

Life Magic for All Aspects of Your Life

You may have read House Magic: The Good Witch's Guide to Bringing Grace to Your Space and Love Magic: The Good Witch's Guide to Healing Your Heart. This course combines ideas from these two books as well as adding fresh concepts. There's even a new lecture about living in the pandemic.

Secrets of a Background Performer in Film and Television

One of my part-time jobs is being a background performer in Film and Television. I've been on loads of shows including What We Do in the Shadows, Handmaid's Tale, Designated Survivor, Taken, Schitt's Creek, Love Guru, Titans, and more. This little course gives you tips and tricks of what is expected of you as bg, what to bring to a gig, how to get an agent, and more. Of course, it's hard to know what will happen in the film business as we slowly come back to life after the pandemic. We also have to brace for a second wave. It's unlikely that there will be huge crowd scenes for a while, but you can bet, there will be jobs once more for bg even if there are only ten people on set six feet apart! This course can help you be ready for that day!

Learn to Read Tarot Cards

This course is designed for beginners and those who want a refresher course in reading tarot cards. Of course, tarot readers and teachers all have different styles so you might want to see the methods I was trained in. You can use any pack of tarot cards or even a pack of playing cards!

So You Want to Be a Horror Writer?

We discuss the elements of the novel and some of the things you need to know to help you in your horror career.

Write a Short Story Using Tarot Cards

Grab your pen and notebook, a pack of tarot or playing cards, and see what kind of story you create! This course will be your guide!

Writers Behaving Badly Video: Share Her Journey Rally, Horror Writers, Allergies and Kylo Ren

I made a video about the latest scuttlebutt in the Horror field.

I had just come from the Share Her Journey Rally so was feeling a bit pumped up!

I also talk a bit about how my stupid allergies are ruining my life, or at least embarrassing me everywhere I go!

I know a couple of Kylo Rens probably thought I was crying for them. I get excited to see Kylo Rens, especially ones that really look like Kylo Ren without the mask, but I don't cry! ha! I'm an Aquarius, it takes a lot to make my cold, dark little heart cry!

I know the cute dude at the Koodo booth thought I was crazy with my crying eyes.

My fellow rally participants at Share Her Journey likely thought I was so moved I was crying at all the speakers!

I also keep waking up with a giant pig face and then my eyes are red and leaky all day and it's so frigging embarrassing. I've not looked like me in a couple of weeks.

I've now switched over to Benadryl which seems to work better than Claritin but I keep passing out on my keyboard so how is that good?

Onward and upward!

In the meantime, enjoy the video!

On October 3, I'll be attending Eeriecon for one day. This is in Buffalo.

October 8 6:30  Brentwood Library
I'll be presenting So You Want to Be a Horror Writer?

October 15 6:30 Merrill Library
Horror Writers Association Ontario Chapter will give a presentation on horror writing.

October 17 and 18 Horror-Rama
You'll find me at the HWA ONT booth both days. I'm also on a panel about Stephen King with Mick Garris.

October 22 -25  Stanley Hotel
I'm hoping to attend the horror writers retreat in Colorado! I'm still looking for some side projects to help me achieve this goal!

Over the past month, I had a few adventures.

I was insanely busy at Fan Expo. I had a tarot reading booth in the Horror section. I was on five panels and organized six. They all went very well I thought.

I wasn't sure what to expect with my personal panels but I had magnificent turnouts for both my Ghost Hunting panel and the Tarot101 panel. I let some people share ghost stories at the end of the Ghost Hunting panel. There were some pretty creepy ones! People loved touching the Scorching Ball at my Tarot101 panel even though it was pretty cold that day because of the air-conditioning. But I'm sure I captured enough souls to propel me forward for my next adventures!

"What Scares You?" HWA ONT panel moderated by Richard S. Todd with panelists Sèphera Girón, Nancy Kilpatrick, Suzanne Church, Stephanie Bedwell-Grime, and Brian Clement.

Ariana/Sèphera and Julianne Snow in front of Ariana's tent.

Ariana was swamped with readings for four days! It was great fun!

Author Matt Patterson came by to see Ariana.

Greg Lamberson was autographing at the Medallion Booth!

Tonya Liburd is a happy host at the HWA ONT booth!

"So You Want to Be a Horror Writer?" HWA ONT panel hosted by Richard, with Sèphera, Suzanne, Lou Rera, Nancy Kilpatrick, and Stephanie Bedwell-Grimes.

Bill Snider and Suzanne Church welcome people to the HWA ONT booth.

The Sunday morning corset panel!

HWA had a panel opposite my corset panel but I managed to sneak a pic as they were wrapping up.

On a nice day in September, I went to the Toronto Library to see Richard S. Todd give a presentation about self-publishing. He's a great speaker and the audience seemed to enjoy his ideas.

On a lovely evening in September, I attended the nEvermore launch.

 Michael Kelly

 Nancy Kilpatrick

 Nancy, Sephera and Caro Soles

On the last weekend in September, there was a city-wide event called Culture Days. I had my photo taken by the Nuit Blanche exhibitors. It might be on display at Nathan Philip Square during Nuit Blanche but I'll be in Buffalo.

On Saturday July 25, 2015, I'll be a guest at Limestone Genre Expo in Kingston, Ontario.

Limestone Genre in Kingston

This promises to be a great one-day convention, full of panels and workshops.

My tour will begin in the middle of the night when I go pick up Sandra Kasturi and Nancy Baker.
We will likely consume many coffees as we road trip to the conference.

Nancy and I are on an 11 am panel and Sandra will be taking pitches for ChiZine Publications.

Check out the guest list here!
