What Is Serial Vlogger?

SerialVlogger is a horror novel written in tiny slices!

What does this mean?

It means that I’m serving up a slice of a novel every week.

Serial Vlogger is a complete novel, a horror novel.

Since it’s being written as I go along, it’s akin to a first draft!

I have more than half the book written, and I know how it ends. This isn’t really a pantser experiment in case you're worried! This is a full novel.

The idea for Serial Vlogger has been in my head for many years.

The character of Lenore (and a lot connected to her) has shown up in a couple of pitches, drafts, and ideas for other horror novels and screenplays but now she’s in Serial Vlogger.

The more time passes, the more urgency I feel about getting Serial Vlogger out as it’s a comment on YouTube culture and social media. Since these cultures change rather rapidly, I decided it’s time to just get the book out before things change again so much that people won’t “get” Serial Vlogger.  This is why I’ve decided to write it for free on Substack. It’s timely and I don’t want to wait a couple of years for it to get published.

The slices are presented for free on Sundays on Substack.

There are weeks that I miss for whatever reasons, so I make up for the absence by adding extra installments during the week to catch up when I get them prepared. For instance, there’s a slice today (December 8), tomorrow, and then we’ll be back on track by Sunday’s slice. I don't expect to miss any more weeks for a couple of months. I'm planning to preload them over the next few days.

The slices are smaller than chapters which is why I call them slices. Several slices will make a chapter. I likely won't do the chapter indicators until the book is finished and then goes through some revisions.

Serial Vlogger is my gift to you! I appreciate all my readers over the years. While Serial Vlogger is being serialized on Substack, it is free. Once it’s finished, we’ll see what comes next.

What is the Content?

You can expect a Sèphera Girón work, uncensored. Readers of my work know that they can expect social commentary, murder, ghosts, body horror, insanity, and more. Serial Vlogger will touch on ideas such as cults, serial killers, feeders, and obsession.

This is a FICTIONAL work of horror and I’m not known for playing nice or making my reader comfortable. Consider this your trigger warning or disclaimer!

Now that we’re getting up to the teens in the slice count, I expect more people will be inclined to read as they can read more of the work all at once. Some readers like their stories doled out in bits, and some like to binge. I get it!

Patrons on Patreon

All paid levels of Patrons on my Patreon get to see the work first. In fact, they've already seen a super rough version of a big chunk of what will be published over the next few months. But they also get the little slices at least one day (when possible) before it's published on Substack.

It's FREE!

I hope you enjoy this free novel. Please subscribe for free or you can join the paid subscriber tier as a tip if you're enjoying my content.

Please share Serial Vlogger as I’m writing it for all horror fans!

The Assassination of Gianni Versace and Toronto's Serial Killer

I do not claim any of these photos on this blog as mine. They are popular images from the internet from the show "The Assassination of Gianni Versace" which is on FX on Wednesday nights.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace will be spoiled so don't read any more if you don't want the show spoiled for you.

You have been warned.

It has been chilling to watch the mini-series The Assassination of Gianni Versace here in Toronto as our own real-life serial killer has been unmasked.

Before I get into my musings about the American Crime Story TV series by Ryan Murphy, which is based on the true story of a serial killer who murdered Versace, I will talk a bit about what’s happening here in Toronto.

I’ve been meaning to write about the Versace mini-series for a long time but I’ve also been deeply disturbed by events here in Toronto, so I’ve been putting it off a bit.

Killer in The Village
For many years, there have been men missing in Toronto. Gay men, homeless men, men addicted to various substances, and so on. Most of the missing men have been gay or people of colour in or around an area known as “The Village” or “The Gay Village” or “Church and Wellesley” or “The Triangle”. So, fingers in The Community point to a police department that may or may not have been as vigilant as they could have been.

A man missing last spring, Andrew Kinsmen, particularly drew up publicity as his family kept hope alive that he would be found. Like many of the missing men, Andrew was a kind, lovely soul who would do anything for anyone. I suspect that was the serial killer’s “type” as well as the physical look.

Many of the men have a similar “look” despite what colour their skin might be. As far as I can tell, most have been described as the type who would give you the shirt off their back, despite other issues they may have had.

Andrew’s family constantly banged the drum about his disappearance: flyers, posters, social media, the news, etc. I always thought he was the victim of a serial killer as I felt a punch in my gut the first time I saw his picture on the news. I thought about other missing men from that area and sensed a connection. Most observant people had similar ideas, and we had them long before Andrew was lost.

Decades of Missing Men
For years people have been missing but hey, Toronto is a big city, people come and go. Some people go under the radar and like it there. However, people like Andrew don’t just up and disappear. And it seems like there have been a few people live him over the years who have done just that.

There have mostly been gay men but there are also some suspicious deaths of women and trans women and men that never have been solved and cases just quietly disappear, if anyone knew about them to begin with. Of course, as a horror writer, my mind always spins a story when I hear news, but back then, I hoped Andrew and the others would one day turn up alive somewhere.

Around the time Versace aired, a man was named a suspect in the Toronto killings. I won’t say his name, he sickens me to the core. He looks like f**king Santa Claus and actually did work as one now and again. At first, it seemed like there may be one or two deaths this man was responsible for. However, today, six bodies have been found. I don’t doubt by the end of it all, there will be twenty or more.

Toronto's Serial Killer
Toronto’s serial killer hung out on dating sites and obviously in The Village even though he was apparently banned from it years ago. Toronto’s serial killer is a gardener, a landscaper. What a great job for a serial killer.

Landscaper
He had a host of clients and kept his tools stored at other people’s homes. He was a quiet man. Hell, I’ve had a couple of friends tell me they have friends who are friends with him and their minds are BLOWN. So now, many homes have been dug up all around Ontario. Before today with the grisly six different men’s remains discovered in a backyard, other remains of three other people (the same people?) were found in various planters.

This is the just the beginning.

There are many more planters and yards to get through across Ontario and who knows where else. Right now, it’s minus 11 in Toronto and has been that cold or colder for a couple of months. It’s weirdly cold this year. Generators were brought in to warm up the ground for the painstaking excavation of evidence or potential evidence.

It’s sad and horrific. Andrew was identified today as one of the victims in the yard.

Versace Mini-Series Thoughts
So with that in mind, watching the Versace mini-series, about a serial killer who preyed on gay men, I feel doubly creeped out, a bit guilty watching it, yet at the same time, hyper aware that Versace and the other victims are not works of fiction either, but were real live people as well.

I want to recognize that I know a lot of people portrayed in the mini-series aren’t happy about how they come off and so on, and I’ve noticed lots of disclaimers about the artistic use of dialogue etc. I’m not naive and I think most viewers aren’t. We know it’s a fictionalized version that facts are dramatized for the story. Look at all the alone scenes, no one knows what really happened, who said what or thought what. When I’m watching the show, I watch it like a docudrama. I know it’s not all real but a lot of it is.

And so far, I love it so the estate and so on shouldn’t worry about any of it.

I still remember hearing when Versace was shot in front of his mansion and the outpouring of grief from the public. It was mind-blowing. It was one of the first times that someone as famous as Versace was murdered like that. It was the third big one for me in the way my life worked and the news I heard. First was John Lennon, then Rebecca Schaefer, and then Versace.

It wasn’t like I was a fan of Versace or anything like that. I wasn’t not a fan either but I knew who he was for sure. Peak of his career with so much more to go. An amazing story of self-made man who loved what he did. Shot dead out of the blue by some crazy asshole.

I remember learning about Andrew Cunanan. So when I heard there was a mini-series about it all, I wanted to see it and see what spin it would have. I was over the moon when I heard Finn Wittrock was playing one of the victims.

David Madson (Cody Fern) episode.

The way the show is structured is that we are working on a backwards timeline. Versace was murdered first and now we’re going back to all the victims before him. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would like that, wondering if the suspense was going to be lost, but in fact, I quite like it.

Last night, Jeffrey Trail (Finn Wittrock) was murdered at the beginning and we follow Andrew gaslighting and brainwashing David throughout the episode. It was an amazing story and the more I think about it, the more I just can’t think about it. Cody Fern was amazing playing a man who wants to do what’s right but his character is so gentle, he can’t, but we understand and feel great empathy for him. We really want him to go, to break free but he has Stockholme Syndrome or is in shock or whatever happened. We'll never know what really happened in real life but this was a sympathetic version.

I thought his death was great, but I wished it had ended with him with his dad and then showing Andrew standing over his dead body with the gun instead of going back to the chase. It felt clunky and took a bit of the tension and grief away as I already knew he was shot and didn’t go into the cabin.  But it’s from scenes like David’s death dream where we recognize that this is a fictional show and not a documentary. Who knows what David thought as he died? We don’t know. The writers made it up. And it was good and worked though a tiny bit corny and totally predictable. But it’s TV and it worked.

In fact, we don’t know anything at all in real life about what happened when Andrew hammered Jeffrey in the head. It’s all pretend because no one who wrote the show was there.

Next week, we’ll meet Finn Wittrock’s character in more detail and see what happened there. It sounded like they were together a few years, so I wonder when the killing began? With Jeffrey’s hammer in the head death? Were there previous deaths? I don’t want to Google it. I forget the details of the case, if the story is even following it. I’ll wait to Google everything after the series is over.

Casual Thoughts
Up until this week, I had noticed some repeated themes in how the show is shot.

Stairs are used a lot. People are always going up and down or standing on them. And many of the staircases are not your run of the mill set of stairs. There are stair cases over people's shoulders, etc.

Pillars are used a lot to frame or cut up shots. Tunnels and hallways.

There are a lot of fences and gates. People are shot through chain link, wrought iron, and so on.

Mirrors are used really well especially in the first few episodes where it was all about fashion, appearances, masks and superficial ideas.

The Florida motels and many scenes were pink tinged like the inside of a perfume bottle. I kept thinking of pink flamingos. It added to the sense of claustrophobia, everything caving in. I also imagine most Florida motels back then were indeed decorated as such.

Last night, I noticed that a lot of the usual visuals weren’t there but there were different ones, simpler ones, as if to show the less opulent life.

A lot of shots through windows, looking through windows, breaking windows, framing the shot through a part of a window.

Last night, I loved how the dog stood in front of the body for many shots. I think sometimes it might have been a stuffed dog but most of the time, he stood amazingly still to break up the shot and hide the body mess.

The sound of the scrubbing, the long uncomfortable shots. There's a lot that makes this a more horrifying show than American Horror Story!

In last week’s episode with Judith Light, I enjoyed how it ended with her talking to the red light of the camera as if it was her husband. In Roanoke, there was a lot made of the red light of the camera. I think other AHS episodes mention it as well. It was a nice little nod.

Darren Criss is doing an amazing job as Andrew Cunanan. I never watched Glee, although I bet I would have enjoyed it back in the day. I have nothing to base him on just as I never saw Adam Driver in anything before I saw him as Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens and really liked him while others just thought of him as "that hipster from Girls" and didn't appreciate his acting ability. I completely believe Criss' portrayal of a serial killer. Funny how close those two roles are when you think about it.

Another Great Psychopath
Darren Criss has captured that smug, arrogant nature of a narcissist, a psychopath, a sociopath, a serial killer. His portrayal of Andrew Cunanan makes my skin crawl. I just want to smack him in the head, he’s such an asshole.

I’ve met a few sociopaths in my time, (as we all have as they are everywhere), and Criss captures the essence perfectly. The charm, how he imitates or mirrors what his victims want and needs, how he lures them in with false promises, with amazing sex, with flattery, just to destroy them for no good reason but his own perverse self-pleasure at watching others suffer. He tortures poor David while they were on the run with word salad and gaslighting, typical tools of the narcissist. He spins David’s head until David doesn’t know what to do or if he has the strength to do it.

Of course, David was damned no matter what choice he would make because Cunanan would have just blamed David for the crime and David would be the one in jail forever for something he had nothing to do with. You can feel the evil from Cuananan in this situation, how he cat and mouses David and loves it so much. It’s so sad and tragic. And it really happened in real life that someone is that evil, just like that asshole in Toronto.

Darren Criss plays the part with chilling accuracy. I hope he wins some kind of award or recognition for his work.

So far, four episodes in, The Assassination of Gianni Versace is really worth watching. The cast is outstanding. No one has been a clunker yet! The sets are amazing as Murphy’s sets and costume designs always are.

I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Incest is Best on Bates Motel Season Three

Spoiler Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My guilty pleasure that existed long before I fell in love with psychopathic Dandy Mott in American Horror Story: FreakShow was Bates Motel.

As we hurtle into Season Three, it seems the long lingering foreplay is going to finally begin to pay off.

Norman has grown from gangly teenager into a creepily charismatic young man. His psychopathic traits are unravelling faster than ever. The yearn for an adrenaline rush continues to supersede common sense.

Norman's attachment to mom continues to twist and his mind continues to split as he dances between fantasy and reality.

Norman even dates a girl to make mom jealous after mom decides (when Dylan points it out) that perhaps an eighteen year old man shouldn't be spooning with his mother. Twisted indeed.

Which of course, brings us to Dylan. Poor twisted tormented Dylan. He wants to do what's right but how can he get on with life when he surrounded by psychopaths?

His dad is his uncle. Dylan was the result of a liaison between his mom and her brother. Norman was fathered by a different man.

Dylan suspects his mom and brother are serial killers and no matter how he tries to get away, he gets sucked back into the web of family dysfunction.

Bates Motel contains debauchery on every level and third season is starting out on a great foot. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next!

Oh, Dandy, How I'm Going to Miss You!

Superdeduper Spoileramas for American Horror Story: FreakShow

I began watching American Horror Story: FreakShow during the second part of the two-part Mordrake story arc. I didn't really like the Dandy character much and thought he was totally out of place in the FreakShow universe.

I eventually was able to finally view the series from the first episode right up until Tupperware Party in pretty much a two-day binge.

The character of Dandy made way more sense to me, obviously, and I fell in love with his man-baby, blood bathing, puppet-making ways.

When we first meet him, he's wide-eyed at the FreakShow and wants to become part of it. He knows he's "different" and hopes that maybe the freaks will accept him. He also wants to buy the twins who have two heads and one body. His mom gives it a shot but Elsa refuses to sell them. Dandy also wants to become part of the FreakShow but Elsa turns him down.

Dandy is bummed out and bored. He's well read and loves the theatre. He dreams of becoming an actor, a star, but his mom won't let him become common theatre folk. However, she attempts to cheer him up by renting him a clown that she finds wandering the road. Of course, she has no idea that Twisty the Clown is a demented serial killer.

Dandy plays with the clown a bit, but the clown isn't into his puppet shows. The clown is bored of Dandy and knocks him out. Dandy wakes up and follows him, likely for revenge, but he has the time of his life when he sees what Twisty is really all about.

It is around this time that the audience sees the character of Dandy evolve through an arc that is actually carrying into the final episode.

Along the way, Dandy finally gets to have his twins in his playroom and he's thrilled and spoils them rotten. One of the twins falls in love with him. The other twin loves Jimmy the Lobster Boy. The twins leave when Jimmy discovers where they are and takes them back to the circus.

Dandy is beyond despair at the loss of his loves. He wanted to marry them. Even worse, they lose their virginity to a crazy ventriloquist and Dandy has the pictures, provided by his P.I. We actually feel sorry for Dandy when he realizes what's happened. When he says, "They were supposed to be mine," we know that this isn't over by a long shot.

Now, at the end of the latest episode, "Show Stoppers" Dandy owns the circus and essentially, owns the twins, again. What a thrilling and chilling moment!

Storyline, character, actor, director, and photographer have combined to create a work of horror art/iconic psychopath that hasn't been done in a while. Dandy was already a costume this past Halloween and that was before the Dandy/Finn Wittrock fan base blew up.

Dandy is a perfect commentary of the modern psychopath/sociopath/narcissist. Material greed, selfishness, hovering narcissistic mom, unlimited resources, and boredom is indicative of many households in modern times. Even without unlimited resources in a family, a narcissist usually manages to find a way to get others to pay. Dandy is the modern man-baby, it's all about him. His bedroom is like a child's nursery though he's a grown man, perhaps early twenties? It doesn't matter that FreakShow isn't a modern story, the parable is, on many levels.

Fun things about Dandy is that he drinks booze from a crystal baby bottle. He's obsessed with his looks. He likes puppets and theatre. He likes learning new skills. He's not afraid of exotic adventures. It's all about what he wants though he doesn't know what he really wants except to be an actor, well, until he decides he's much more.

Where I went from not really like this character to thinking he was the best thing I'd seen in forever occurred when he was sawing off Matt Bomer's arm. Sure I loved seeing him running around in his undies, especially both of them together. Absolutely. But Dandy was just another pretty spoiled TV-show boy until that moment. That classic moment when he's sawing off the arm, and Matt is still alive. Dandy has the best moments there. I was laughing and horrified at actor Finn Wittrock's brilliance. How hammy that could have been (don't get me wrong, this character is over-the-top but it IS about freaks and showbiz) or how wooden as so many other "psycho" actors can be. Finn hit the mark and it rocked.

He had a couple of now classic lines that he delivered magnificently as well throughout the series that have been made into countless memes. Especially some of his comments to Twisty. They are priceless. That Julliard training paid off for Finn Wittrock.

Dandy's droll observations really make for great entertainment. And really, that's all I want in any show. To be entertained. So thank you writers.

When the curtain comes down tomorrow, Dandy will be gone. It doesn't matter if he dies or not, the magic of this character creation in this season is over. Dandy Mott will live on in reruns but we'll never see anything original about him again. I'm sure Murphy is well aware of how many new fans Finn Wittrock has garnered and will likely put him in Season Five and who knows? Dandy may make an appearance or Finn may play someone else, as he's stated he wants to do in various interviews. But Dandy will never be Dandy how we know Dandy now. So enjoy him tomorrow night no matter what happens in the plot.

I will miss Dandy and his crazy adventures.

Can't wait for tomorrow's final episode.

Added thought:
Long ago we saw the twins in a bottle at the museum. I guess that this was just a fantasy?

It would be kind of cool if somehow Dandy became curator of the museum as well and put his beloved twins in his collection after they meet their demise.

I also had high hopes that Stanley's appendage would end up in a bottle as well.

What do you think?

Psychopath Sunday:Musings and Observations

While I was walking today, I had deep thoughts about American Horror Story:Freakshow that I binge-watched last night. If you've been following my blog, you know I started watching this season late, the episode when Twisty was led away by the Halloween spirit. My thoughts are many and I don't have a lot of time to ponder in my blog, as tomorrow begins my back-to-work writing and editing life! However, like millions of others, I've been fascinated and repelled by the storyline concerning Dandy and his evolution from spoiled mama's boy to serial killer. This blog isn't really about that either.

Psychopaths Entertain Us!
I could likely write several non-fiction books about the power of the real-life psychopath and how normal folk are drawn to their dark, dangerous ways, however, I'm sticking to fiction. And even then, I'm just having a few scattered Sunday thoughts.

Some of the best stories are about psychopaths, serial killers, and other deranged folk. It's easy to see why we use them in entertainment. I myself often write about psychopaths, they are my favourite monster. When I look at my favorite books, movies, and stories, I seem to favor tales about psychopaths and narcissists.

Some iconic psychopaths have a lot in common in how they've been portrayed in film and television. They are often good-looking or unique-looking, have a hang-up or obsession, and inevitably have scenes that exposes their human-like vulnerability.  Although psychopaths themselves have no empathy, the average viewer has empathy for them and this is the key to how we love and hate these psychopaths. We see how they are "misunderstood" as we are privvy to their behind-the-scenes madness. This makes them human to us, and we root for them even though we know we shouldn't.

Psychopath Rituals
We get hooked in by scenes such as Eric Roberts in Star 80 working out and self-talking in the mirror for confidence. On my first viewing of this movie, at the Toronto Festival of Festivals (our film prof recommended we score tickets, if possible, so I did) this was one of the scenes that creeped me out the most. If you've ever seen All That Jazz, you'll recognize that Fosse used this idea though with another kind of narcissist. Jessica Lange is in All That Jazz, one of my favorite musicals.

Real-life narcissists and psychopaths have to self-talk as well to get through their daily routines of deception and maintaining the illusion that they are human.

Many psychos are insecure despite their immense narcissism.

Dandy has deep thoughts while doing push ups.
In American Horror Story: Freakshow, we were treated to a montage of Dandy working out and losing his mind. Nice work, Finn Wittrock!

Psychopaths think best in a warm tub.

Alex in bath.

Dandy in his bath.

They also spend a lot of time in bed or on couches, thinking, obsessing over their idols and hobbies, and playing with themselves.

Alex in bed.

Dandy in bed.

They love to dress up for their nefarious deeds and may even wear a mask now and again as they clown around.

Clowning around in A Clockwork Orange

Dandy Clown

Sometimes they just like to do normal stuff, which is why we like them.

Are you ready for your close-up?

Mmmm...

Though sometimes they can freak out their friends with their enthusiasm.
"Hey! Why don't you want to take a bath with me like we used to when we were little?"

Which can lead to bad things happening.

Dandy did it this time!

Sometimes there's a mom ready to wipe up the psychopath's mess.

Dandy and his mom

Of course, where would we be without the original movie, Psycho and the modern series, Bates Motel and those twisted mother and son stories?

Bates Motel finally starts up again very soon. I can't wait to see what's next in this sick soap opera!

Norman and his mom, Norma.

And since the big wigs in television land know that we are used to seeing our bad boys running around in tightie-whities, they've thrown in some big brother eye-candy for good measure. Norman's older brother, Dylan is essentially a good guy but has enough bad boy for us to love him.

Norman's hunky older brother, Dylan ends up shirtless in every episode and often is covered with blood and bruises! Yum.

So what's going to happen next on American Horror Story: Freakshow? Are they going to kill off Dandy so that the new cast members can shine? Will they make use of the psychopath storyline they've begun? Will Dot and Beth, the two-headed woman get their men, mortal enemies Dandy the psychopath and Jimmy the alcoholic Lobster Boy? Or will that potentially weirdly fun (and could be bizarrely erotic) and violent storyline get discarded because the series needs to wrap up fast?

I think that the lobster hands we saw in the jar were from one of Jimmy's relatives. Lord knows they've mentioned them enough over the past few months.

Like I said, these were a few of the thoughts that tumbled around my head this Sunday afternoon in January. I'm already thinking of more to add and maybe I'll have a Psychopath Sunday every week.  Remember, truth is often stranger than fiction. Watch out for the psychopaths in your own life!

Feel free to add your thoughts about psychopaths and American Horror Story: Freakshow.

Busy Times for Sephera

Order Borrowed Flesh Here!

The past few months have been very busy.

I'm thrilled to announce that I've signed my third contract with Samhain Horror Publishing for my erotic horror novella, A Penny Saved.

A Penny Saved is based on the nursery rhymes revolving around the concept of picking up pennies for good luck. Here in Canada, pennies were discontinued as a currency, so to find one is a curious matter. Nowadays, we find nickels and dimes.

Cora hoards the pennies she finds, wishing for power, fame, sex, and money. Lots of money.

As she realizes she can trade sex for money, she fast tracks to the top of the company in haze of bondage parties and corporate meetings. The lines between good and evil, earth and hell blur as her lust for greater and bigger deals spirals her towards darker places.

Necon eBooks have redesigned my books. Here are the first two, Borrowed Flesh and The Birds and the Bees.

This is the third set of covers for both of these books and as an author, I must say it's pretty cool to see how artists interpret my mad ramblings!

I love both of these covers and can't wait to see how they're going to redo House of Pain and Mistress of the Dark!

Order The Birds and the Bees Here!

Next Public Appearance!

I will be at Toronto Festivus Comi-Con at the Convention Center on Front Street Sunday December 14, 2014.  I will be running both the Horror Writer's Association booth and my own person booth.

If you'd like a tarot reading from me in person, this is your chance! I'm only charging $20 for a tarot reading this Sunday. I will also have some of my vials of special incense, gemstones, and other charms at a deep discount.

What's Next?

A web series segment produced and directed by filmmaker Chris Griffin called Bar Tab  is being shot in January and I get to be in it!

I'm working on a horror novel called Boy's Club.

Hellnotes Reviews Weird Tales of Terror

I've been thrilled at the warm reception my collection WEIRD TALES OF TERROR has been receiving in recent months. This month, there was a fabulous review in HELLNOTES.

As the review states, nearly all of the pieces are early work that I didn't know where to place.

Here's a taste of what William Gabrowski had to say:

For early work this is well-crafted, potent material. During the read, I kept telling myself: “This stuff is like Joyce Carol Oates as directed by David Cronenberg.” In case you missed it, that’s meant as a compliment.

To read the whole review, click this link: Hellnotes Review of WEIRD TALES OF TERROR

Weird Tales of Terror is available as a trade paperback or an ebook from Amazon

What Would YOU Give or Take for Eternal Life?

If you had the chance for Eternal Life would you take it?

I don't mean you have to die and come back as a vampire or a zombie or a shambling corpse.

I mean, if you never had to die at all because you found a loophole in the system.

Or a spell.

Would you take another life to prolong your own?

An animal?

A human?

Most of us wouldn't. I should hope that none of us ever would but of course, 4% of the population are sociopaths, psychopaths, serial killers and other types who have no conscience.

That four percent of the population is the pool where most horror authors, actually authors in general, go to play.

What fun to explore the mindset of someone so opposite to reality. Someone who is almost superhuman because of the very human qualities he or she possesses or doesn't.

The villain, of course, has to be cold and heartless, has to not care about the consequences of his or her actions.

There are many villains strewn throught the pages of literature who have pangs of remorse and guilt and know they are evil.

Are they forgivable?

Or is evil evil?

Is the giving, taking, of one life in order to prolong another acceptable in any situation?

Who are we to play God?

It's always fun to play with these themes in fiction for no one real is harmed yet we can destroy oh so many.

In Borrowed Flesh, there are people who long to play God, people who worship their Gods in strange ways, of humans who yearn for power, for love, for eternal life.

Discover who wins and who loses.

Borrowed Flesh is now available from Necon Ebooks and on Amazon and wherever else you like to buy your ebooks!

Borrowed Flesh by Sephera Giron is now available!
